. What is a reglaze?

This is when new lenses are put into your new or existing frames

. What do I need to place an order with ciliaryblue?

To order lenses with ciliaryblue you must have a valid signed spectacle prescription, that is less than 2 years old. You must be over the age of 17 and not registered blind or partially sighted. We will also need a ‘p.d’ (pupillary distance) measurement, you can get this from your Optician.

. How do I get my prescription?

When you have your eyes tested by an Optician you must be given a copy of your new spectacle prescription. You can always request a copy later but they may charge you for it.

. How long is my prescription valid for?

Your prescription is usually valid for 2 years unless otherwise stated by your optician

. What is distance, inter and near?

This may appear on your prescription and refers to the type of glasses needed. Distance for driving, television etc, intermediate for computer use, near for reading, writing etc .

. What is my p.d and how do I get it?

Pupillary distance is an essential measurement. It is the distance from the centre of one pupil to the centre of the other pupil measured in mm. The p.d has to be measured during a sight test, but is not routinely written on a prescription, you can ask for this from your Opticians. If you experience difficulty in obtaining this measurement we can take it, if necessary, from an existing pair of your glasses.

. I can’t understand the writing on my prescription?

We require a copy of the prescription, to be sent with the frames, so we can check it when it is received.

. Can I use my contact lens prescription?

If you wear contact lenses you will be given a copy of your contact lens specification as well as your spectacle prescription, these are often different, so we cannot use this.

. Why are your prices so low?

As we are a UK, internet only based company our overheads are significantly less than the high street Opticians (Boots, D&A, Specsavers etc) This allows us to provide you with much cheaper lenses, in some cases this will be as little as a ¼ of their price.

. Are your lenses the same as those supplied by my Opticians?

All our lenses are supplied by a leading UK lens manufacturers, the lenses are made to the highest specification and all conform to British Standard BS2738-3 2004.

. What is high index?

This refers to lenses that are made of more dense materials, this makes them thinner and lighter too. We have 3 levels of high index thin, super thin and ultra thin lens.

. Do you do sunglass lenses or tinting?

Yes you can order standard single vision tinted on the website. For the tinting of any other lenses like High Index, bifocal or varifocal please ask for details.

. What if my prescription is out of your range?

If your prescription falls outside our available lens ranges use the form on the ‘contact page’ to enter the relevant details and we will contact you with possible alternatives. We can process and reglaze most prescriptions however large or small.

. Do you reglaze rimless spectacles?

Yes we reglaze rimless and semi-rimless specs at no extra cost.

. Which type of lenses do you offer?

All our lenses are supplied by leading UK lens manufacturers, the lenses are made to the highest specification and all conform to British Standard BS2738-3 2004. All our lenses are made from plastic materials. Standard plastic, thin, super thin, ultra thin and reactions. We can also supply all types of bifocal/varifocal and other specialist lenses, please ask for details.

. What type of lens coatings do you offer?

Anti-scratch (HC), Anti-reflection (MAR), Ultra clean (UC) and Ultra Violet (UV).

. How soon will I receive my order?

We will post the box to you as soon as we process the order, it will be sent first class, when we receive the frames from you we will glaze and send back the same day.

. What happens if I enter the prescription incorrectly?

All lenses ordered on the website will be checked against the prescription sent to confirm the correct lenses are put into the frames. If a mistake has been made we will reorder at now extra cost to you.

. What is your returns policy?

The 30 day guarantee period begins from date of order of goods. The guarantee covers goods that have a manufacturing fault only. If this is the case, please return your glasses to ciliaryblue and we will replace the lenses free of charge. If you wish to return your lenses for a refund, for this reason you need call 0845 6262008 for a refund amount and return the lenses, in good order, at which point we will consider refunding fully. We will where necessary reinstate any previous lenses to the frames previously owned by the buyer.

. What are the postage and packing costs?

All our prices include 1st class postage and packing. Also available is Recorded delivery, this is provided by the Royal mail, it needs to be signed for and is insured in accordance with the Royal Mail guidelines this will cost £5 extra. For the higher value items and where speed of delivery is important, Special postage is available for £12 extra, this is also provided by the Royal Mail Special Delivery service, it needs to be signed for and is guaranteed next day delivery, and is insured to a higher value in accordance with Royal Mail guidelines

. I have an expensive frame to be reglazed, is it insured?

The Special Postage service available for £12 extra is provided by the Royal Mail Special Delivery service, it needs to be signed for and is guaranteed next day delivery, and is insured to a higher value in accordance with the Royal Mail guidelines.

. Do you accept NHS vouchers?

We do accept NHS vouchers.

. How can I pay?

We accept all major credit/debit cards.

. Are my credit card details safe?

All credit card details are processed through a secure network.

. Can I order by phone and pay by cheque?

. Can I place an order if I live outside the UK?

You can but we will only use prescriptions form UK registered Opticians. There will be a further charge for sending outside the UK.

. Do you do contact lenses?

We do not supply contact lenses

. Can you do varifocal lenses?

We can only reglaze varifocals for existing wearers. We can take the critical measurements from the exisiting pair and match these exactly to the same frame or apply them to a new frame.

. Can I speed up the delivery process in any way?

We recommend use our Special Postage service this is provided by the Royal Mail Special Delivery service, it needs to be signed for and is guaranteed next day delivery.

. Will my frames need fitting after being reglazed?

The frames can sometimes change slightly when fitted with prescription lenses. Most High Street Opticians will normally refit the frames for you without any charge.
