Many people now chose to wear their varifocal glasses when playing sport and so far have been limited to the choice of frame because the lenses were only available in a conventional design which meant wrap-around sports style frames could not be used and were reserved for single vision lens users. A new specifically designed varifocal is now available for just that type of frame. The lenses can be clear, tinted made in Transitions material or even higher index (thinner lenses). So don’t be put off from choosing that wrap-around frame, we can now reglaze it for you.

The sight test is the most important and effective way of ensuring your eyes are healthy. Everyone should have there eye tested at least once every 2 years irrespective of whether you wear glasses or not. There have been many occasions where I have tested someone with perfect sight who has had an eye health condition that needed treating. So actually the most important role of the sight test is to assess, professionally, the health and condition of your eyes. So even if you are 20/20 go and get them tested. http://www.healthyeyes.org.uk/index.php?id=4

All children under 16 are entitled to a free sight test on the NHS. There are many other people who are also entitled and don’t realise it. Follow this link to see who qualifies for an NHS test. http://www.twcsa.nhs.uk/how_to/sight_test.htm

If you are not entitled and pay for a ‘private’ test you can be tested as often as you want. Always choose a reputable Optician or one that has been recommended to you. If you want to buy glasses on-line or for instance reglaze with us you will have to have a prescription that is less than 2 years old.

One of our techi’s put a video on YouTube last week of him glazing a pair of single vision glasses. He was careful not to show any details of the person’s whose specs were being reglazed, but made a very good job of the video and the specs. He is training so was using one of our basic machines but it produces great quality work, it’s just a little easier to work and a little slower than the others. He did this video as he is constantly asked how he cuts the lenses to fit! Have a look below

We have struggled to find the correct crystals to fit to the rimless glasses when we reglaze. We have now found a quality supplier of Swarovski® rhinestones so we will be showing you the results soon.

We created a pair of glasses with a ‘Rhinestone Regalze’ the specs look fantastic, I will upload some pictures very soon, so you can see the full effect.

The process of choosing an Optician right through to the purchase of spectacles can be a difficult one, our Optician has written some very useful hints and pointers to make this easier and if followed correctly will save you money. Follow the link below:

You only have to walk through your nearest big town and you’ll get the usual collection of large ‘multiple’ Opticans, like Boots, D&A, Vision Express, Specsavers etc. They all offer very similar products but at a hughely inflated price. Even the Optical press are talking about it. So save time, sit at your PC and have a look at what the internet has to offer. Some are great for new frames, some for contact lenses, some for reglazing only, like us. Check out the link for the article in the Optican magazine.
