We have opened this particular blog as so many customers have wanted to leave feedback or testimonials and sometimes suggestions in ways that we may impove our service. This way they can leave comments here.
Here are some that we have received in the last few weeks:
Sirs,
I rate the Ciliary Blue service and communication to be in the top 5 of 1000s of Internet Shopping experiences I’ve had over the past 10 years.
My new frames were posted on Friday afternoon, Ciliary Blue acknowledged receipt on Saturday morning, then advised they were ready for dispatch at 09:50 on Monday morning and received Tuesday, Wow!!
I unreservedly recommend Ciliary Blue to anyone looking for a spectacle reglazing service. Keep up the amazing glazing service.
Thank you, I’ll be back soon.

We get asked many times, if we can glaze the inserts for sports glasses. Many people use them for cycling, running some watersports etc, as for those who cant were contact lenses thses inserts mean they can still wear decent sports specs and see clearly. We have glazed them with single vision, bifocals and varifocals. Because they fit behind the main lens, ordinary standard lenses are the lens of choice for the inserts. So the cost would be £15 for single vision, £30 for bifocals and £45 for varifocals.

ciliaryblue is very proud to present the new addition to our website….you can now order varifocal and bifocals online. Previously this could only be done manually over the phone with us and although we are still very happy to process orders this way, for those that don’t need any advice or help, they can now order online. The process from then on is as before, we will send you the box to put the specs in when we receive the glasses from you we will then order the lenses and glaze them when they arrive with us a week or so from ordering. So please feel free to try it and if you need help ring on 01455 290675 for assistance.
You can have your varifocals reglazed! If it is an existing frame we can take the measurement from them and position the new lenses in exactly the same position. If it is a new frame that you want reglazing we can take the positional measurements from an existing pair and duplicate for the new frame. If you are a first time wearer, then we suggest you utilize the services of your Opticians to do this, when you want another pair come to us. We rang around today to give you an idea of the equivalent High Street costs in Red and ciliaryblue in Blue

This is only a few examples, there are many more available, so ring on or email to info@ciliaryblue.com for details.
A recent report detailed how the general public have stopped opting for the anti-glare coating on their lenses. This is probably because of the cost and because many customers think the coating is for cosmetic purposes only. The coating does have some cosmetic advantages, it removes all reflections from the lens surface, but this means more light passes through the lens and hence more detail and information. It is well documented that the coating helps rest your eyes when working under false illumination as the reflections from the lens surface cause distractions and optical fatigue.
It is also worth while remembering that single vision 1.50 index lenses with anti-glare/scratch at ciliaryblue cost only £25, this is what many high street Opticians will charge extra for the coating alone.
As you can see from the picture below, the centre part of the lens has the anti-glare coating, the effect is quite dramatic when you see the uncoated next to the coated.
It was reported this week in the Optician Magazine about the trends affecting the optical market on the high street. Single vision lenses still account for around 73% of the lenses dispensed with bifocal at 10% and varifocal 17%. The percentage of reglazes has stayed the same at 12%, the same for the last 2 years! Reactions lens sales has gone up and less people are having anti-reflective coatings. Now let me tell what is happening on the internet. Of course I can only speak for ciliaryblue, but reglazing volume has increased 2 fold from this point last year. More and more people have anti-reflective coatings, they account for around 75% of all our lenses sold, reactions lenses are still one of our best sellers. Why is there such a difference between us and the high street? Price! We are on most price points at least 1/2 price and in some case we are as little as 1/4 of the price. So keep bucking the trend, leave the high street alone and use ciliaryblue, its safe, cheap, professional and so easy. Click the link at the top of the page and have a look at the prices and the process.
Its now time to think about having Transitions lenses, before the summer starts? Transitions® are probably the best branded reactions lenses. They are faster reacting, available in grey/brown and combined with anti-glare/scratch coating are fantastic lenses. They will protect your eyes from all harmfull UV and we can get them in single vision, bifocal and varifocal. Have a look at the prices as they are very competitive and out-strip the High Street easily, for exactly the same product! (We charge often less than ½)

The summer is almost upon us so it must be time to find the sunglasses that have not been worn since the end of last summer? But you’ve had a new sight test since then and your prescription has changed and you like the frame you’ve got. So just change the lenses, go online and order your single vision lenses and let us reglaze them for £22. This includes the postage and the glazing. We even send you the box to send the frames to us. How easy could it be? You should only be without them for a few days. So save yourself a fortune and get your full UV blocking sunglass lenses from us.
