We have had to put up the costs of our postage as from Monday 30th April. The Royal Mail has increased their costs by more than 20% in most cases. We still send out our usual pre-paid/addressed box but now do it with 2nd class mail; this rarely takes longer than 1st class mail in our own tests. You can opt for first class if you wish but there is a £2 surcharge for this. Recorded and special delivery is still options and have gone up in line with their charges (£7 and £15 respectively). For interest the cost of a box to send 1st class 5 years ago was 69pence it is now £2.36!We have absorbed the costs every year but we have had to bow down this time and make some changes.

We will of course continue to offer all the same services as usual.

What a brilliant few days of sun most will have had this week (apparently it’s going to change at the weekend!). It will come as no surprise that  the most searched for optics product was sunglasses! We get asked all the time if we can supply prescription tinted lenses, we can. They are for sale on the website for £22, most high street opticians will be wanting over £70 for the same thing. These are full UV blocking lenses and will block over 80% of the light and come in different colours, the most popular being grey, green and brown.

We can also replace damaged lenses in your non-prescription sunglasses too. You know, your favourite pair, they may not be expensive but they fit and you don’t want to change them but the lenses are all scratched. We can bring them back to full working order for the same £22.

Reactions lenses are always an option, the ones that go darker in sunlight and go clear again inside, we sell them for as little as £45!

There are many other options too, high index tinted, bifocal tinted, varifocals also. We started supplying mirror coated prescription lenses last year with great results. They look amazing and work even better!

If you want to order non-prescription follow these instructions:

1.  In the right and left sphere drop down box select ‘plano/O’ for the power, leave cylinder and axis boxes empty.

2.  For the p.d put any figure in, as the lenses have no power the p.d isn’t important but you must enter a figure.

3.  Select that they are to be used for distance, then choose lens types.

4.  The tinted lenses are ‘standard tinted’ for £22. Once selected it will ask which colour…
