Online spectacle suppliers got a bit of a bashing in The Mail this week over the supply of new specs. All of the specs were considerably cheaper than the High Street and huge savings were had. The problems seemed to be with the accuracy of the prescription, guessing of the p.d, fitting of the frame, long delivery time and poor communications. Overall the UK suppliers came out the best though. It is a shame that equivalent specs from the High Street weren’t used too as  a comparison, to see if they were any better? See the link below to the article in The Mail.

We at ciliaryblue, recognised that the supply of frames with prescription lenses could cause problems, it is hard enough to choose frames when you can try them on, to do it from a picture on the screen must even more so. So we opted to reglaze only. That way, in most cases you are using a frame that fits already, or at least one you have tried and chosen. The p.d is never guessed, the prescription lenses are checked for power when manufactured then before we glaze them and after we have finished, so accuracy is very important. The delivery only normally takes a few days, we send a box to you to put the frames in to send to us, we reglaze and send straight back, this is supported all the way with emails informing you of the progress of your reglaze! So if you have any doubts using online frame suppliers, reglaze instead and still save yourself a small fortune.
