My new frames were posted on Friday afternoon, Ciliary Blue acknowledged receipt on Saturday morning, then advised they were ready for dispatch at 09:50 on Monday morning and received Tuesday, Wow!!

    The completed frames arrived on Friday morning and I got to see them later that evening. Fantastic job, the high street opticians said it couldn’t be done and to go and get a refund. Not only did Ciliary Blue reglaze the frames for an excellent price, they were done with style, an absolute work of art. The curve of the lenses matches the base curve of the frames perfectly with absolutely no distortion.

    As a cyclist use to wearing sports eyewear, ergonomics, comfort and weight are very important to me. The same criteria I expect from my normal eyeglasses, and Ciliary Blue met all the criteria with style. They are definitely a great advertisement for Ciliary Blue and particularly the skills of chris Tomlinson. Now that the initial response of “they can’t possibly be prescription glasses” is out of the way, half of the glasses wearing population of Manchester, who have taste, should be beating a path to your door. Much appreciation for a job well done.

    Iwas having problems with the optician “I should have gone to” getting my new glasses right. As a back-up, I thought of having my previous semi-rimless lightweight frames re-glazed, just in case of further problems.
    I found this site via a search engine and within a week I had my comfy old frames back – I went for a re-furb which means that they are as good as new!
    I particularly liked the highly polished lens edges (check if YOUR current lenses have them), the silicone nose pads that don’t slip, and the card in the returned transport box showing the Pupilary Distance (the one the opticians will not quote on your prescription)for future use.
    All-in-all a refreshingly good experience. I have been telling my friends and family to dig out there own comfy frames and bring them up to date.

    I went for my first eye test at a shop that rhymes with HOOTS. For the frames and lenses with anti glare the cost was in the region of £130. To cut a long story short I said no thanks and found some new designer frames on ebay for £15. Then I spent about 2 days googling and found Ciliaryblue. I googled them as well and found some youtube videos and was happy to proceed.

    I sent my frames off in the prepaid box and got my reglazed frames back shortly after! The glasses rock and for a total price after NHS voucher of £30! (£15 frames £15 relgaze) That’s a saving of £100 at least. Workmanship is equal and greater to then friends who have used high street retailers!

    Will be back for more. At these prices I can get different pairs of glasses to choose from.

    Wow what a service, under a week from placing the order with Ciliaryblue to receiving my newly glazed frames, fantastic!

    I normally buy my glasses from the internet already glazed to my prescription, but the frames I wanted, I could only find on an American website and they wanted over £180 to glaze them with ‘transitions’ on top of the price of the frames, ouch!

    So I decided to import the unglazed frames and get the ‘transitions’ lenses added by Ciliaryblue, I have to say I am not disappointed with Ciliaryblue, a very speedy service, excellent workmanship and great communications throughout the whole process .

    I placed the glazing order on Thursday evening last week, I received the prepaid box on Saturday and popped the frames in the post, on Monday evening I received a confirmation email that the frames had been received and also another email to say the frames had been despatched back to me, now that is service that needs to be applauded.

    If it was not for the Royal Mail failing to deliver the Glasses by special delivery in time I would have been wearing my newly glazed frames on Tuesday night! as usual you cannot rely on the post office, but you can rely on Ciliaryblue, they excelled!

    Thanks again I certainly will be using your company again and will have no hesitation recommending you to my colleagues.

    Having a complex prescription, I usually pay about £300 for glasses from high street opticians. So I was very pleased to have found Ciliary Blue! I got in touch with them regarding my prescription, as it was out of the limits for their stock lenses. I was amazed by the level of service I received. Not only were they very promt at replying to email enquiries, they also called me on a Sunday (after checking it was ok to call) to explain that the lenses would need to be ordered. So having placed the order, I sent my frames in (again a swift and painless exercise as Ciliary Blue provide the box and postage!) The very next day I got an email acknowledging receipt of my frames and that very same day received another email telling me my glasses were ready and had been dispatched!! Eat your heart out D&A!!
    I received my glasses the very next day and the end result is fantastic! Ciliary Blue have even polished the edges of the lenses (where they stick out from the frame due to thickness)and they did this without being prompted! I will be recommending Ciliary Blue to everyone! To my knowledge, you just don’t get this kind of service AND superb quality lenses anywhere else. Thanks!!

    I endorse all the good points that are shown in the letters above. The communication and standard of service that I received this week are without equal.

    It has been my experience in the past that high street stores constantly plug new frames with a result that I have many perfectly good frames lying in drawers about the house, all costing a considerable amount. I had a certain amount of trepidation on reading the advertisement before I ordered reading lenses to be fitted to one of these ‘old’ frames. I need not have worried, for the result was excellent.

    I will now be sending another two frames to be re-glazed, one of them for golfing purposes. I will post the results of that pair for any other golfers who may be reading.

    Fantastic service. I had two frames glazed, both new. One pair I wanted made into sunglasses and Chris talked me through the process over the phone as the lens detail was more specialised. The turnaround speed was fast, they dealt with all my enquiries (some were a little tedious! I’m a fusspot!)within an hour and with exceptional customer service. The lenses themselves are comparable to Essilor ones I have in another pair of specs, and the coatings do make cleaning less regular and more effective. I fingerprinted all over the lenses to test this out…

    I can’t praise the company enough. It’s easy to be suspicious of what you’re getting online, but you can definitely trust these guys. You get much more than what you pay for. And compared to my last pair of glasses, glazed at the opticians, I made a saving of nearly £200 on one pair of glasses.

    My sunglasses were completed on Sunday, and I was notified as such. That’s what I mean by customer service. They arrived this morning (Tuesday).

    Thank you ciliary blue. I know where I’ll be replacing lenses in future.

    The service I received from Ciliary Blue was excellent as most comments describe, costs lower than the high street or other online reglazers and the glasses reglazed very very good. I would like to add one comment tho’: my glasses are a very high prescription so I contacted CB before starting proceedings. Received very good advice and chose their highest index plastic lenses to reglaze a pair of old but favourite glasses into sunglasses. This was a relatively high cost experiment (£140.00), but turned out with a very positive result. They can provide lenses that are stronger than the options they give on the online form and make a very good job of it.

    Wow, what a great service. Queries were dealt with politely and intelligently – a rarity these days?

    My re-glaze with UC/MAR lenses was terrific value. The multi-anti-reflective coating is very effective and the ultra-clean properties really work: these lenses stay clean longer, are esier to clean, and simply dissapear before my eyes: perfect for monitor use in bright office environments where dirt and reflections normally plague spectacle users. There is the merest hint of a magenta cast caused by this coating, but it’s far outweighed by the advantages of crystal-clear reflection-free vision.

    I am delighted with the service from Ciliary Blue. They offer a fast and professional reglazing service, which costs a fraction of High Street and other online prices. I paid £65 up front online to have my glasses reglazed with anti-reflective, thin Reactions lenses. I did this on a Thursday. The next day a postage-paid box arrived and I posted my old glasses back to Ciliary Blue. The second working day i.e. Monday I received my glasses back, cleaned, reconditioned and fitted with shiny new lenses exactly as ordered. Just before I posted my glasses I asked at a local options how much they charge for the same service and was quoted £180!! Rarely have I known such prompt, professional and reasonably-priced service and I would recommend them to anyone, for all types of lenses.

    I was skeptical having had a bad service previously with another on-line glasses supplier. I am so very glad I decided to give Ciliaryblue a try. First of all, after placing the order and paying, I received a phonecall. They were refunding a substantial part of my money as the type of lenses I had requested I didn’t really need with my prescription. They could’ve just gone ahead and completed the order and I would have been none the wiser.     I’ve been using Ciliary Blue for around 18 months now after reading an article in the Independent newspaper, and in that time I’ve had the lenses of about half-a-dozen frames replaced (these were frames languishing in a drawer, which would otherwise have gone to waste). So I’ve now got spare reading glasses, spare driving and outdoor glasses and also a pair for watching TV. The whole lot has problably cost me less than the price of one “famouse name” pair from a high street opticians. I was a little dubious at first about using Ciliary Blue – I wasn’t too keen on the idea of sending off my glasses to complete strangers. And what would I do if anything went wrong? Well I needn’t have worried, as nothing has gone wrong. With my latest order I realised after I’d sent it off that I’d wanted reading glasses and not the distance glasses I’d ordered. My mistake. No problem. I sent an email to change my order and this was quickly acknowledged. The glasss arrived yesterday (within days of my order), and – because reading glasses were cheaper – the refund for the difference was in the bank the same day. Absolutely brilliant service. Buy with confidence – you won’t regret it.

    I sent my glasses away to get reglazed, reactions lens anti-reflection, anti scratch etc. Sent them on the Monday got them back on the Thursday no problems at all and the quality is spot on. I used http://www.ciliaryblue.com.

    My wife by comparison used perfectglasses she sent them her glasses via special delivery, after a week of no contact she contacted them(via email as no-one picked up the phone). At first they denied ever receiving her glasses, until she could produce the tracking number from royal mail and suddenly they found them, even then it took them a further two weeks to send them back.

    I have a changing prescription due to having a cataract. I have had three sets of lens so far and one I am about to order which should last until my operation in a few weeks. I find the service very friendly and personal and also a bargain price. As soon as I go into a high street opticians for an eye test I feel under pressure to buy their product just like when you walk into a car showroom and the salesman moves in on you. Having found Ciliaryblue I would never go elsewhere again. It is not difficult to get low priced frames and then have your lens made here.
    High street glasses are a rip off. I found Ciliaryblue by accident on the Internet – it’s a shame I did not know about them five years ago when I spent £150 on two pairs of reading glasses.

    After reading several good reviews on a few sites and having checked out the prices, I decided to enquire with Ciliary Blue about getting my rimless specs reglazed with reactions lenses (something I’d always been told wasn’t possible due to them being too brittle). I dropped them an email and had a very helpful response within half an hour. Good start!

    Decided to give them a call to get some advice on which lens to go for and spoke to a very helpful lady who advised me perfectly and even advised that I didn’t really need the extra thin lenses given my presecription. Placed the order there and then and the prepaid envelope arrived the next morning! Packaged them up, sent them off and a few days later had 2 emails within 30 mins…one to confirm they’d received them and the 2nd to say they’d completed the order and despatched them.

    A few days later (delayed due to the sorting office being closed due to a nearby fire and then me being out) they arrived and I’m so happy with my choice. Top class service and a high quality product. Many thanks CB!

I contacted you via email last Friday and got a very quick response which invited me to give Chris (sorry i did not catch his surname) a ring. I called up and was dealt with very very well. Absolutely brilliant customer service and product knowledge. My prescription was not possible via your website so i was very pleased to be told it was possible and placed an order immediately. I received my re-glazed glasses back this morning (Tues) therefore a 1 day (working day) turn around which is unbelieveable.     What a FANTASTIC service! To begin, the customer service representative on the telephone was courteous, well informed and gave me a very clear indication of how the service works and costs involved. The Email chain advising me of the progress of my order was fantastic. To put a spanner in the works however, the folks at Specsavers had mis-typed my prescription and therefore one of my lenses was of the wrong power! There I was thinking that I would have to pay extra to fix this error of their making…….BUT NO! The fantastic service from CB was there to make my day. They simply asked me to send back the frames and they would replace the wrong lens free of charge! Whoever is in charge there…. you have brilliant staff! I Have a number of frames that will need reglazing and I will be sending them to you! To any prospective customers reading this: A brilliant company, excellent customer service, prompt turnaround and Fantastic results…..what more can you ask for?? don’t delay….order today!

    I just wanted to say how pleased I am with the re-glazing of my specs, Ciliary blue was extremely quick in turn around and left email updates. This enabled to me to buy specs that actually fitted online (opposed to having to purchase something in the children’s section at my local optician) and have appropriate lenses fitted. Having petite features makes getting glasses a nightmare, but your service has made it so much easier!

    Dear Cillary Blue, I wanted to add my comments to the blog to thank you for the reglazing job you’d just turned around for me one three pairs of glasses. Katie was very helpful on the phone to quote for the tinted lens for my prescription lens as well as the two normal pairs of everyday glasses offering a postage discount which was great. The cost was less than half of what I’d been quoted on the high-street and CB even took my tricky PD measurement off existing prescription lens sent to be updated. I’ve used online opticians before and I’ve been disappointed by the lack of responsibility shown over the prescription and receiving brand new frames back that have been bent in with the prescription lens inserted — Cillary Blue are a real breath of fresh air! Thanks again for the excellent customer service.

    For the second time in 18 months, I’ve used ciliaryblue. Last time it was reglazing my frames and this time I got new frames off the internet; sent them to Ciliaryblue, and they returned completed specs to me.
    I had seen the frame in a High Street optician – £140.00; my 1.67 varifocal transitions lenses were going to cost £600 !!![That's £210 more than the last set I got from the High Street 27 months ago].
    So, how much did I pay this time?
    Exact same frame on the Internet – £20.00.
    Lenses -exactly the same as High Street, but from Ciliaryblue – £200.00
    Total cost inclusing p&p – £220.00
    Like most people I value and care for my eyes – they are too important to me to muck about with. However, the service and quality I’ve received from Ciliaryblue convinces me that I will never again pay the rip off prices that opticians on the High Street have the brass face to charge.
    With care and forethought, anyone can take advantage of Ciliaryblue’s excellent service. Thanks guys

    This is the second time I have used Ciliaryblue. Had some lenses replaced in April 2011 and was very impressed. I have just had two more sets of lenses done and yet again, extremely pleased with the results. Ciliaryblue are simply excellent, communications, speed of despatch, prices etc first class.     After a cataract op. on both eyes, I wanted reglazing of existing frames. The High St. quote seemed a bit excessive,so I looked at a few i/net sites.
    I felt it could be a risk, but after looking at the ciliaryblue site I was v. impressed at the information offered. More comprehensive,and , I felt, more professional than any other sites.
    This was thoroughly borne out by the helpful phone chat which I had initially –answered all my queries, and the very rapid reglazing service. The frames had also been tightened,and new eye pads on one pair which had been included without charge. A saving of about £20 per pair on the High st. price-and probably much quicker!
    I can only wish that their customer service ‘ethos’ was more widely available.

    Well, here’s from another convert to Ciliaryblue… Ciliaryblue knows I’m grateful for their service, so this is for anyone who’s wondering if they should “take a risk” and place an order:

    On my most recent visit to “the shop that supplies the farmer who sheared his dog” I dropped more than £200 for varifocals, in a £100 frame that I now know cost no more than £2 in bulk purchase from China. (It was me who got ‘sheared’!) Days later, I discovered Ciliaryblue by ‘googling’ on ‘reglazing’ and thought I would test it. I placed an order for a favourite pair of prescription sunglasses (purchased a few years ago on a “two-fer” from a high street optician) to be reglazed to my new distance-prescription and tinted as per the original (£22?!). Emails arrived immediately, notifying me first of the acceptance of the order, followed in minutes by another, saying that a post-paid box had been despatched to me. The box arrived 2 days later, and I used it to post back the sunglasses. Within a week, I had them back. Opened them up, put them on, and I was converted. Absolutely perfect. That week I sent another pair of sunglasses, and they returned in a week, like new. In the past few weeks, I’ve had my wife send both her year-old ‘high street’ readers and an expensive but unusable set of bifocals to be reglazed with Ciliaryblue (£30!). We’ve saved her from being ‘sheared’ as well, and she’s been so happy with her ‘new’ bifocals that she’s commented on them repeatedly, for days. And finally, yesterday, my 85-year-old mother-in-law, who I encouraged to place an order, received her varifocal reglaze (basic £45), and she tells me they’re perfect — she’s not had them off for 2 days, and she’s put her new £200 high street vari’s back in the case, “to save for best”. Sceptical? — ignore Ciliaryblue at your own cost. Every order is accompanied by emails to keep you informed of what’s going on. Postage is included; your old lenses are returned to you; PD numbers are provided to you from your old spectacles; and the people at Ciliaryblue are approachable and friendly, by phone or email, if you have questions or anything goes amiss. We’ve now sent off 5 set of glasses in the last several weeks, every one of them has been perfect, and I’m just about to have a back-up set of varifocals done on frames I paid a lot for, a couple of years ago. Five out of five is enough for me to say “5 Stars”. This consistently good service doesn’t come by accident — it comes by professionalism, thoughfulness and care, and this is what makes Ciliaryblue stand out. For all these reasons, and from my recent experience, I’d recommend Ciliaryblue to anyone.

    Having always been wary of using an internet based optical company, following research of reviews and customer feedback I recently decided to give Ciliaryblue a go.
    Right from the start I was given honest help and guidance by Chris Tomlinson. Nothing was too much trouble, a breath of fresh air indeed these days when many seem to have forgotten what customer service is about.
    I packed up my glasses in a box and protective bag supplied by Ciliaryblue as part of the service and sent them off.
    The frame had been glazed locally with Nikon lenses 20 months ago at a cost of £190.00, £150 for the lenses and £40 for drilling four holes in them.
    My reason for re-glazing being that the much hyped Nikon lens coatings had started to break down after 18 months of careful care. Even though I spent £500 for two distance and one reading glasses re-glaze on my last visit my local optician wanted another £50 on top of my eye test fee to provide my PD measurement.
    My glasses were sent both ways using Royal Mail Special Delivery. The turn around time was fantastic. I have ended up with a perfect glazing job at less than a third of the initial cost. I will not hesitate to use Ciliaryblue again for my wife and my re-glazing requirements. Communication throughout the process was fantastic.
    These days when we are looking for value for money and polite good customer service, try Ciliaryblue, I am sure you won’t be disappointed

    After having had a shabby experience with one of the discount online opticians – gdirect, I was wary about trusting my precious peepers to another value optical option.

    I needn’t have worried. Ciliary Blue, the only thing better than your high quality lenses was the hand-holding care and the blazingly fast turn around time.

    Specifically, Transitions XTRActive 1.67 lenses are really difficult to find in the UK anyway and the best prices I could find were in the £230+ range. That’s nearly 100 quid more than I paid at CB – they had the coveted lenses in stock, ready to rock.

    Then there’s the unparalleled service. I’m not just comparing Ciliary Blue to other online operations; high street retailers could also learn a lesson on the value of good old-fashioned care and personal service. CB transformed me from an already burnt, twice shy, service wary pessimist to a believer that there are some genuinely contentious professionals out there.

    Chris Tomlinson was there every time I called, always polite, professional, and helpful. I like it when I call and the same person answers, knows me by name and makes it his business that the job is completed to my satisfaction. It’s reassuring. Considering the 100’s of customers and high street opticians they supply the level of personal care takes real dedication.

    The icing on the cake was that during this busy Christmas period – Ciliary Blue were worried I may not get my glasses this week so they called me Friday afternoon to ensure I got my glasses on time ON THE WEEKEND! I received them 9.32am Saturday morning. Just outstanding.

    No, I don’t work for or know CB, I’ve never blogged or had an exceptional experience that warranted recognition – but if you, like me were in two minds about reglazing or prescription lenses from the internet then you’re in safe hands.

    Thank you Ciliary Blue, I’ll definitely be putting another order in January.

    Got to say that this company is one of the best online retailers I have ever dealt with. My first ordser was for some thinner lenses, but I was phoned up and told that with my precsription, I really didn’t need to spend the extra money, and that the ordinary lenses, which were £10 cheaper, would do. Throughout the ordering rpocess , the level of communication is fantastic, and the turn-around time for orders is excellent. forget the high street opticians – if you need new lenses then shop here.

    I was fortunate enough to be referred to cilliary blue by a website selling frames. I have felt ripped off in the past by my local optician, but it was only when I retired last year that I began to research the cost of spectacles.
    Firstly, I was incorrectly told that I could not have varifocal lenses in the round frames I wanted, also that a tint was added to previous lenses even though I could not detect any such tint!
    I had a massive argument with the objectionable receptionist at my local optician trying to get my GOC3 which is the award given when you are in receipt of certain pensions/benefits.
    I was supported througout by Chris at Cilliary Blue and finally got the award certificate. I had already got my frames from iSunglasses.co.uk and the response time to messages was exceptional througout. Bear in mind this was over the Xmas period.
    I was sent a chart with the various shades of tint to choose from and within days my new glasses were received. Amazing speed, great quality.
    Finally, I would like to point out that my local optician wanted £170 plus the award for the same lenses. I paid Cilliary Blue £22.00! Enough said.
    Using them is a no brainer in future.

    Really impressed with the service. Submitted my order & prescription on Dec 22nd (was hoping to get them back by late Jan for my ski-ing holiday), received my flat pack box with stamps attached on the 23rd, took them to the Post Office that day. On the 28th Dec received a call to ask if I wanted tinted lenses (I had stupidly forgotten to ask for tinted). I was not billed the extra which I would have been happy to pay and received my newly glazed ski goggles on the morning of the 29th, 1 week later after a period which covered xmas. Very impressed. Would definitely use again. Thanks.

    I have used Ciliary Blue services four times now, in each case the service has been absolutely superb. In one particular case I asked if they could repair and reglaze my favourite lightweight titanium wire glasses which a number of other high street opticians claimed were irreparable – not only were they fully restored I was additionally provided with spare parts at no extra cost. This company truly understands the concept of “the customer is king”.

    I had a new pair of frames glazed by Ciliary Blue in May 2011 because it was £100 cheaper than where I bought my frames.

    Despite reading the positive reviews, I was concerned about taking a risk by buying lenses over the Internet, following a conversation I had with my optometrist (a very honest, non-high street business).

    I called and spoke to Phil (the owner) and explained that I had a complex prescription (-5 and -1.5 astigmatisms) following bilateral retinal detachment surgery. Phil explained why their prices were cheaper and the importance of getting the right measurements. He was v helpful and put my mind at rest.

    I received the frames a couple of days after I sent them and I’ve worn them every day since without a problem! I will definitely use again and recommend to friends.

    I am delighted with the single vision reading glasses produced by a reglaze. My usual specs are varifocals, but for certain types of close work they are an inadequate compromise. An extra pair produced from perfectly good old frames, and lenses at an unbeatable price, has provided just the solution. I wish Ciliary Blue well in providing what I believe to be a unique service.
